This one is inspired on a principle of the nature where waste doesn’t exist, everything is used again as nutrition, so we can do the same about industrial waste and reuse the products when they finish their useful life, we can use them as “nutrition” for new products. As an industrial engineer we always are looking for ways to improve productivity by reducing costs and we are also responsible for the environment and how the activities for the industries affect it, so according to this video we can solve both issues applying this principle of the nature. Just take a look to the video, is very interesting..

JOB INTERVIEW tips

It is important to know that any job interview is like other, they are all alike and we must be prepared for any circumstance that may happen during the interview. For example, sometimes we think we are going to be interviewed for one person and then, when we arrive to the interview, we found out that it will be a group of persons who will be evaluating us. First, It is very, very important to make a great impression, make eye contact, smile, and give a nice, firm handshake to the interviewer when you met him or her. Then, make sure you wait to sit down until the interviewer asks you to sit down. Don't put your stuffs on his or her desk. You should keep your things to your side or in your lap, and wait until you're asked a question until you start speaking. The first saw is the one that counts, so, we always should dress for the position that we really want in a long term, rather than the position you are applying for today. Women should not wear a lot of make-up and jewelry. And for both, women and men, clothes and must be clean and in good shape. We should be prepared also, for questions like: How would you handle this situation? That the employer may ask.
If the Interview is in a restaurant or café, is probably because the employer wants to see if we have the appropriate etiquette skills, so it is important to have them! To know table etiquette and, also stay focused in the interview as those places are very noisy, and of course we must speak at a very good level so can be heard for the employer.
As soon as you notice that the interview is over, you have to leave, so stand up, thank them again and don't forget to ask for the job before you leave.<img style="WIDTH: 320px; What influenced you to pursue Electronics engineering?
Since I was a child I liked everything about circuits and I always liked to open computers to see how they were inside and how they worked, I’ve always been very curious and also I know that electronics engineering is a career that I will be able to find a job in other countries very easy with.

2. Could you please describe the educational process required to become an Engineer? Well, after I graduated from high school, I entered in the university and there you see subjects like: math, physics, digital electronics, computer drawing, Algorithm and Programming, Circuits and Networks, Data Transmission, Electromagnetic Theory, Telecommunication Networks, Antennas and Propagation, Mobile Communications, microwaves, and others.

3. From your perspective, what is the most difficult part of being an engineering student? I think that engineering students are the ones that have to be more applied, they need to love their career and study a lot. Sometimes is mandatory to resign to some travels or some activities that may interfere in your studies.

4. What are your plans for the future? My plan is to graduate and if I’m able for that time, work here in Venezuela in a large telecommunication company such as movistar, and I would like to own a Mountaineering school here in Maracaibo, because I practice mountain climbing.

5. Why would you recommend Engineering as a career? I would recommend this career only for those people who really love this, because it is not easy, but it is very rewarding and it is practically a new career most, here in Venezuela and is the career of the future.

ENGINEERING THE MAGIC OF DISNEY (Summary)

As an Industrial Engineer I will be able to develop in a lot of areas, also in different kinds of industries. This article is about the experience of two Industrial Engineers students working at Walt Disney World.
They applied their knowledge in different areas. One of them, Zac Hyde, senior IE major, worked: supporting Disney Transportation, (Which comprised the monorail system, ferry boats and buses that moved guests from various areas within the resort property), worked on the Disney Cruise Line, Disney's Magical Express (A shuttle service between the resort and airport), assisted with the opening of two new attractions-Soarin' and the Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show-and the development of a mathematical model that would determine the optimum number of shows to schedule each evening in the Magic Kingdom. He says that he loved working on a company that worries a lot about guests satisfaction, although that makes his job harder because no matter how much he studies a situation, the guests experience (good or bad) was the one that qualify the results.
The other one, Patrick Foxworthy sophomore IE major, worked with the Maintenance and Engineering group. Some of his responsibilities include evaluating the maintenance team for MonstersInc: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue, a new attraction at Disney's California Adventure. He says that what he liked the most about working as an IE at Disney was the fact of working with talented and creative people and also in the “Happiest place on earth”. He also says that creating memorable experiences for guests is very rewarding.
They both had a great opportunity working in an industrial engineering cooperative position at one of the biggest corporation. The memorable experiences that the guests live are the measurement of their capabilities to improve how things are done, and their willing and creativity. Or in other words, the measurement of their capabilities to be very good Industrial Engineers.

1. COULD YOU PLEASE DEFINE ENGINEERING IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
Engineering is a discipline where technical knowledge is applied to the design and problem solving for any practical purpose. “Engineering” in Spanish, (Ingeniería) comes from the word “Ingenio” which is ingenuity, so this discipline combines scientific principles with creativity in the case of Industrial Engineering, to improve production and process, increase earnings, and eliminate waste of time, money materials and other resources.

2. WHAT INFLUENCED YOU TO PURSUE INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING?
I’m a very perfectionist person, Industrial Engineers are always figuring out how to do things better, improving methods and process. I think that Industrial Engineering mixes a lot of disciplines in one, economics, manufacturing, quality control, ergonomics and security, and I love this because you learn a little of everything.

3. COULD YOU PLEASE DESCRIBE THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS REQUIRED TO BECOME AN ENGINEER?
Mathematics, physics, mechanics, health, safety, environment, ergonomics, cost, statistics, computer skills, ergonomics, management science, quality control, organizational behavior, economics, finance, labor relations, work methods and design, manufacturing analysis and control and even shipping and billing, are just a few subjects that an Industrial Engineer must know perfectly.

4. WHAT ARE THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO BE A GOOD ENGINEER?
Critical Thinking, time management, complex problems solving, be able to work in groups and under pressure, judgment and decision making, be able to talk to others to convey information effectively, active learning, organizing and managing people, supervising, planning process and programs, interviewing people, collecting and managing information, performing safety operations.

5. WHAT JOB CONSIDERATIONS WERE YOU LOOKING FOR AFTER YOU COMPLETED YOUR EDUCATION?
I would like to work in the service industry, like events planning and coordination. I also would like to work in a manufacturing industry, but a big one, improving process and methods. In both industries, manufacturing and services I could also develop managing operations, security, hygiene and environment.

6. WHAT'S SOMETHING OF YOUR SCHOOL LIFE THAT YOU ENJOY THE MOST?
Community service is one of the things, because I did it with a group of friends and I could practice what I will be doing someday. I applied my knowledge and used real tools that Engineers use in the industry, and I could learn and know new things of my career.

7. FROM YOUR PERSPECTIVE, WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF BEING AN ENGINEERING STUDENT?
The fact that you are evaluated in a quantitative way. Almost all the subjects are evaluated with a written exam so you have to almost memorize everything, no matter if you really learn or understand what you are doing. And I think that is a very short time to learn so many things, 3 months are not enough, teachers try to give in this time all the material they used to give in 6, so is hard. And we have no vacations anymore, we finish a quarter, next week we have the entries, two weeks free and that’s all, we have to start again, it is grueling.

8. WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE FUTURE?
After I graduate, I would like to make a post-degree, and figure out the way to go to live abroad, find a job up there, I wish I could live in Spain, since I practice Flamenco dance so I want to become a professional dancer within I develop my career.

9. POINT OUT YOUR MOST PERSONALLY GRATIFYING MOMENT IN ENGINEERING SCHOOL.
When I, with my group, made a Safety, Hygiene and Environment Procedures Manual for a real institution, and they will really use it.

10. WHY WOULD YOU RECOMMEND ENGINEERING AS A CAREER?
Because is very challenging, not everyone can study this career, it demands a lot. My name is Claudia, I'm 20 years old, I live in Maracaibo and I study Industrial Engineering at URBE, I hope I will be graduated soon and I think I’m going to live abroad, in order to get more and better job opportunities, and better life quality. The country I’d like to live the most is Spain, since I practice Flamenco dance and I really would like to continue it to be a professional dancer, and I love this country and its culture.I also love shopping, going to the movies, traveling, taking pictures, knowing people of other countries and learning new languages.
